About this event

 2013 SPC Club Pipe
For a few years now, a number of club members have been pestering me for a more affordable pipe for our POY.  They suggested a factory pipe so more members can afford one.  OK, it's a good idea.  I have a few factory pipes that smoke well and definitely run under two hundred bucks.  An inexpensive pipe that smokes well is a nice thing, but frankly, it's not that special.  And the Seattle Pipe Club POY has to be special.  So I dragged my feet. I didn't stop thinking about it, though.

Well... it's finally a reality. The amazing carver Trevor Talbert has agreed to make this special pipe.  If you're familiar with Trevor Talbert's Ligne Bretagne pipes than you know what we've got.  If not, then let me tell you about these gems. The stummels are from Patrice Sebilo's stash and are old, old wood. Likely Algerian briar.  Add to this Trevor's wonderful sandblasting and staining.  Now we've got something special.  And to gild the lily, it's got a real horn stem!  Horn stems are incredibly rare and desirable today.  It's like an unused classic pipe with modern drilling and stain.

The horn stem is more than just beautiful:  it's very comfortable in the mouth, exclusive and classic but there’s a slight downside.  You simply can't get a nice thin bit with horn stem material.  Nature of the beast, I'm afraid.   So you will get a choice!   Choose either the cool horn bit or an optional ebonite bit (with a thin profile).
This will be our most affordable POY in 12 years and a pipe you will definitely want in your collection.  A pipe this good for this price?  Amazing.  This Trevor Talbert POY is everything we want it to be.
